Built to Last pastel chairs

Built to Last Furniture Aptly Named
Or, where did you get those great Adirondack chairs
at Penny Lane and Sound Mind & Body?

We have gotten many compliments on the Adirondack chairs we added to the decks of Penny Lane and Sound Mind & Body during the 2005 rental season. Most people say "we usually hate Adirondack chairs because they're so uncomfortable, but yours are great" and ask "wherever did you get them?"

We found them at a wonderful place called Built to Last in Moyock, NC (right on the VA-NC border, under the water tower on the east side of Highway 168).

Phone 877 258-2578Rick Spink, who owns the business, sells only direct to consumers and has been in the business for close to a decade. His personal approach will turn you into an Adirondack chair aficionado. While we were shopping, we learned that Built to Last was the first to create the chairs in pastel colors (now copied by other companies). Rick's chairs are made of a corrosive resistant plastic and can sit out in the sun without fading or getting so hot that you can’t sit in them. They are heavy and won’t blow away. The backs are braced with uprights so they won’t break. The seat is curved downward near the back of the knees for comfort and support; notice how other chairs are cut off at that point. The arms are wide, big enough to hold a glass, a book or a small plate. Rick can tell you more about Adirondack chairs than you ever wanted to know!

Rick has sold chairs to people in 46 states and 10 foreign countries and he’s had only one chair returned. Why? The person ordered four chairs and could only fit three on his patio! Return Policy? Built to Last doesn’t need one. Complaints? Rick can’t think of a single one.

But the best part is that if you order the chairs for your house on the Outer Banks, he’ll deliver them for you. We ordered eight and Rick put them up on the decks where you see them now. He loves the Outer Banks and has a place in Avon so he’s frequently on Hatteras Island anyway.

Rick said that ever since the New York Times ran a small article last June he’s been overrun with business and why not? He makes the best chair on the beach!

Built to Last recently introduced some new products including a chaise lounge, an octagonal picnic table, a round coffee table and a kid-sized Adirondack chair. Rick is excited about his new bar chair, bar stool and bar table set which will debut at the Richmond Home & Garden Show March 3-5, 2006.

Visit Rick's web site www.built-to-last.com and look at all the colors and styles he offers. He’s added a new pastel color this year, lavender. (It’s on one of the kid's chairs on the web site.) He also has tables and double seater chairs. You may find beach chairs a little cheaper elsewhere but you won’t find any more satisfying.

If you visit Built to Last in Moyock, make sure to tell Rick you're a Half Vaster!
